I also thought paki meant 'Holy' or 'pure' or something like that in
Urdu...
Hang on - let me have a look at Wikipedia:
"The name Pakistan means Land of (the) Pure in Urdu and Persian
(Farsi)...."

ME: The "land of" part must certainly be -istan, so pak or paki must
be 'pure'.

"...It was coined in 1934 as Pakstan by Choudhary Rahmat Ali, who
published it in his pamphlet Now or Never. The name is a portmanteau
representing the "thirty million Muslims of PAKISTAN, who live in the
five Northern Units of British Raj — Punjab, Afghania (also known as
North-West Frontier Province), Kashmir, Sindh, and Balochistan."

ME: I heard that many years ago, but I recently heard that it was a
myth. I'll have to start believing it again now.

You are a dick. Say "paki" in my street and I'll send my fist crashing
into your stupid face. In Britain, "Paki" has a specific and widely
understood meaning, similar in perceived intent to "nigger" or "kike".
If you maintain otherwise, you are either amazingly ignorant, or being
deliberately trollish.

Why? Do you own the street? Have you declared independence and
establish a code of law that states that uttering the word 'Paki' is met
with summary punishment of a fist in the face?

Ad hominem - Alexander Baron is the man who went to the Tehran

As Adolf Hitler was a dedicated anti-racist - as evinced by his

I consider that a compliment.

Incidentally, check out what Satpal Ram's use of the workd Paki before

It has been explained already that in Britain, "Paki" is widely
understood to be a term of racial abuse. It is not equivalent in
strength or intention to "Jock" or "Brit". Please get this through

Apart from the fact that in cyberspace Pakistanis are quite happy to
use the word - ergo postings by paki_girl etc. And of course blacks
can use the dreaded N word with impunity.

This is sometimes called "reclaiming the vernacular", like when gays
describe themselves approvingly as "queer". They have the right to do
that. Others don't. I do not find this particularly difficult either
to understand or live with. However you seem to have a problem.

What a load of bollocks. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
No one has your imagined "right" because no such right exists, regardless of
the tedious imaginings of a bunch of elitist wankers and their
anal-retentive amigos. If you don't like the language, fuck off and learn

I have a problem with people who don't believe in freedom of speech,
and with people who violate other people's rights not to be physically
attacked.

If all you do is act tough on the net, I don't care. If you were to
actually try physically attacking someone in my presence, you might be
capable of learning that you made a mistake.

(And the person, and I use that word advisedly, to whom you're
replying is an idiot and an asshole, but deserves nothing more or less
than to be laughed at.)
