In March 2007, the Iranian Navy seized 15 British servicemen who had
strayed into their waters. For all the Iranians knew they were up to
no good, planting mines or something.

Not a shot was fired, and shortly all were released by order of Iran's
charismatic leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Today, the Israelis murdered 19 innocent civilians on a flotilla
carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza in an unprovoked attack.

Which of these nations is a threat to world peace?

************************************************

The actual death toll appears to be lower - but the sentiment remains
the same:

You and people like you are forever making obscene comments directed
against Iran's charismatic leader, but what is your actual objection
to him?

That he refuses to bow to blackmail from countries that have nuclear
weapons and tell his country that it has no right to develop nuclear
power?

That he hosted a conference in December 2006 to demonstrate his
nation's commitment to free speech and to allow people to express
dissenting views about the Holocaust - views that would land some of
them in gaol in Germany?

That he recognises the reality of Zionist power and is not afraid to
speak out against it?

Or perhaps you believe that oft-regurgitated Jewish lie that he
threatened to wipe Israel off the map?

Or perhaps you believe that oft-regurgitated Jewish lie that he
threatened to wipe Israel off the map?
No, he merely said that "Israel must be wiped off the map".
That's a lie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_and_Israel

The translation presented by IRNA has been challenged by Arash
Norouzi, who says the statement "wiped off the map" was never made
and that Ahmadinejad did not refer to the nation or land mass of
Israel, but to the "regime occupying Jerusalem". In his own words:

So what did Ahmadinejad actually say? To quote his exact words in
Persian: "Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az
safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad."

That passage will mean nothing to most people, but one word might
ring a bell: rezhim-e. It is the word "Regime", pronounced just
like the English word with an extra "eh" sound at the end.
Ahmadinejad did not refer to Israel the country or Israel the land
mass, but the Israeli regime. This is a vastly significant
distinction, as one cannot wipe a regime off the map. Ahmadinejad
does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the
specific phrase "rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods" (regime occupying
Jerusalem).

So this raises the question.. what exactly did he want "wiped from
the map"? The answer is: nothing. That's because the word "map"
was never used. The Persian word for map, "nagsheh", is not
contained anywhere in his original Persian quote, or, for that
matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase
"wipe out" ever said. Yet we are led to believe that Iran's
President threatened to "wipe Israel off the map", despite never
having uttered the words "map", "wipe out" or even "Israel"

The full quote translated directly to English: "The Imam said this
regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".
Word by word translation: Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this)
rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad
(must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish
from)..[12][13]

So, according to him, the nation of Israel must be destroyed. The
English idiom "wiped off the map" has precisely that meaning.

So the fact that he didn't use the English words does not render the
translation inaccurate.

Causing either is active, and the same thing. Predicting either is

I understand the difference between a prediction involving no action
by the predictor, and one that involves such action. You apparently
don't, or at least won't admit it.

And on your planet, someone stating that bigots like you must be
removed from the sweep of history wouldn't be making any sort of
threat, right? Or is something a non-threat when it applies to the
targets of your bigotry, but a threat when it applies to you?

"Vanish from the page of time" and "wiped off
the map" are both idioms with very similar meanings.
You continue to claim they don't have the same meaning,
One is predictive, the other is active.
You don't even say which is which.

In the entire scope of human history, can you provide an example of
something happening that would qualify as on and not the other?

continue to fail to be able to show any difference in their meaning.
You're lying.
So you claim to be able to show such a difference, you merely fail to
do so? For what reason?
Post by Ray Fischer
Like most religious bigots you will use any lie at all
in order to justify your hate.
Like most idiots, you project your own feelings and failings on
others.

On your planet, is "carthago delenda est" a prediction or a call to
action?

There is the insanity of hate. To claim that two such very different
phrases has the same meaning is ... bizarre. And the the crazy bigot
doesn't even acknowledge the fact that there was no mention of the

"regime occupying Jerusalem" refers to which nation? Or is this
another "because he didn't use a particular word, I'm going to claim

In March 2007, the Iranian Navy seized 15 British servicemen who had
strayed into their waters. For all the Iranians knew they were up to
no good, planting mines or something.
Not a shot was fired, and shortly all were released by order of Iran's

Today, the Israelis murdered 19 innocent civilians on a flotilla
carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza in an unprovoked attack.
Nonsense.
